Sander van der Weide
is general director and founder of The Hockey Department.
Sander played no less than 275 times for the Dutch national team and represented his country at 3 Olympic Games (Sydney, Athens and Beijing). He won a golden Olympic and World Cup medal and played club competition in The Netherlands for Amsterdam and HC Den Bosch, India and Spain, with four national titles.
From 2004 till 2009 Sander played for Real Club de Polo in Barcelona where he founded The Hockey Department in 2007.

Within The Hockey Department Austin develops and promotes European and South African hockey tours.
Austin got his first cap in 2004 in the South African national team and has since then played at the Olympic Games of 2008 and 2012, the World Cups of 2010 and 2014 and many other tournaments.
Nowadays Austin competes for HC Den Bosch as captain and drag flick specialist, in the highest hockey division in The Netherlands.

Gijs is our representative in Africa and together with The Hockey Department organises hockey trips from and to Africa.
Gijs drove in 2010 with the Orange Trophy to the World Cup soccer in South Africa. This impressive journey of 22.000 kilometres was the start of a long term relationship with the continent.
For the KNHB he spent six months in Zambia, from where he founded the Hockey Dreams Foundation. Nowadays they can be found in Zambia, Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Within The Hockey Department team, Sebastien develops and promotes The Hockey Department’s service offering for the Belgian hockey community.
Sebastien is one of the most famous strikers of the Belgian Hockey Team. He started his international hockey career in 2012 and played every tournament for his country since then, with two times silver at the European Cup of 2013 and 2017, one silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games and gold at the 2018 World Cup.
Sebastien is currently playing for HC Den Bosch.

Within The Hockey Department Johnny develops and promotes hockey tours for UK based clubs and schools.
Johnny played hockey in the National Leagues of New Zealand, Australia, Spain and the UK. He played hockey through all age groups with England and Great Britain through to the indoor senior squad. In the UK he played most of his games for Wimbledon, of which the last two years as captain, winning 2 national titles.
Currently Johnny is playing in the Spanish Honor Division for Club de Campo from Madrid.
